Prime power: The maximum power that the generator set can use continuously within 24 hours is called prime power. 

Standby power: In a certain period of time, the standard is that there is one hour in every 12 hours that can be overloaded by 10% on the basis of the prime power. At this time, the power of the generator is what we usually call the maximum power, that is, the standby power.

That is to say, if you buy a 300kw main generator, then you can run it to 330kw for one hour in 12 hours. If you buy a standby 300kw generator, if you do not overload it and usually open it at 300kw, in fact, the generator has been opened in an overloaded state (because the actual prime power of the unit is only 270KW), which is very unfavorable to the generator, which will shorten the life of the generator and increase the failure rate.

Therefore, the best power choice for diesel generator sets is to add 10% power reserve on the basis of the user's total load, which is both economical and practical.
